Recently, the Provincial Association for Science and Technology, the Provincial Federation of Social Science, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Provincial Department of Education, The Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Nanjing Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Provincial Office of Science and Technology for National Defense jointly released the list of scientists' spiritual Education bases in Jiangsu Province in 2024. "Nanjing University Earth Scientist Spiritual Education Base" was selected as the 2024 Jiangsu Provincial Scientist Spiritual Education Base.

The School of Earth Sciences and Engineering at Nanjing University traces its origins back to the Department of Geography at National Southeast University established in 1921 (National Southeast University was the predecessor of Central University). Mr. Zhu Kezhen served as the first head of the department. Over the process of more than a century, numerous distinguished scientists have emerged from this department, demonstrating their lifelong and unwavering dedication to our nation’s earth science. They have etched a profound chapter in our school of Earth Science and Engineering's 100-year history through their tireless contributions. To narrate a story of these scientists’patriotic and innovative endeavors and cultivate a rich soil for their spiritual growth, four exhibitions have been constructed within our college-namely, The College History Museum (including a wall of our academicians’ information in the School of Earth Science and Engineering), The Earth Science Museum, The Continental Scientific Drilling Core Museum, and The Mineral Crystal Appreciation Museum. These exhibitions not only enrich China's geological research resources but also serve as vital windows for public understanding of earth science knowledge.

Furthermore, they act as treasures to showcase earth scientists’spiritual education,to exhibit their style and wonderful landscapes hidden deep within our planet. By doing so, people can scientifically learn, care and protect our shared earth, as well as enable us to truly appreciate outstanding scientists' realistic innovation and their devotion to our country.
